A unique piece of British social history. This King James Version Bible was published by the British and Foreign Bible Society and includes a well-preserved original presentation plate. Provenance: The Bible features a school presentation sticker inside the front cover, dated April 24, 1931. It was awarded to Raymond J. Lewis upon his leaving Fortescue House, Twickenham. Fortescue House was a significant institution under the Shaftesbury Homes for Boys, providing a historic link to Twickenham's local heritage. Condition: Exterior: The black grain binding shows signs of age, including typical wear and tear to the spine edges and corners as seen in the photos. Interior: The pages remain clean and intact. The presentation plate is in very good condition with clear handwriting. Binding: Still functional but shows vintage character.
